Castel Sant’Angelo

The Castel Sant’Angelo, or Castle of Angels, is a circular tower-like building in central Rome. It is situated on the banks of the River Tiber. The structure was initially built around 130 AD for the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for his family. It has also been used by popes as a castle and a fortress, and today it houses a museum.
