Photographing Wales

Wales is characterised by a diverse landscape of mountains, coastline, river valleys and upland terrain shaped by geology, water and a long history of natural change. Despite its relatively compact size, the country contains a wide variety of environments, from the peaks of Eryri to the coastal landscapes of the Llŷn Peninsula and Pembrokeshire.

Mountain ridges, sheltered coves, rugged shorelines and expansive views are recurring features throughout the landscape. Weather from the Atlantic and changing seasonal conditions contribute significantly to the character of many of Wales’s natural environments.
