Photographing Gwynedd

Gwynedd is a region of north-west Wales encompassing mountains, coastline, rural valleys and landscapes shaped by a long cultural and industrial history. From the peaks of Eryri to the shores of Cardigan Bay and the Llŷn Peninsula, it contains some of the most varied scenery in Wales.

Historic settlements, former slate-working landscapes and extensive coastal environments reflect the close relationship between people and place. The contrast between mountains, sea and rural landscapes contributes to Gwynedd’s distinctive visual character.
