Photographing Albania

Albania is a country of varied landscapes, where rugged mountains, river valleys and an extensive Adriatic and Ionian coastline combine within a relatively compact area. Much of the terrain remains distinctly shaped by natural features, with historic towns and settlements often closely tied to the surrounding landscape.

From alpine environments in the north to coastal regions in the south, the country contains a diverse range of scenery influenced by geography, climate and centuries of cultural exchange. Mountains, lakes, coastlines and historic architecture contribute to a strong sense of regional character throughout Albania.
