Tepelenë

Tepelenë is a small town in southern Albania, situated above the confluence of the Vjosa River and the Drino River. Surrounded by mountains and river valleys, it occupies a strategic position that has been important since antiquity, with successive civilisations recognising its value as a gateway between southern Albania and the interior.

The town is overlooked by the remains of Tepelenë Castle, while the surrounding landscape is defined by broad river plains, steep hillsides and the distinctive geology of the Vjosa valley.
