The Cairngorms National Park is a landscape of mountain plateaus, ancient pine forests, river valleys and expansive glens in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. Shaped by glaciation and long natural processes, it contains some of the most extensive upland environments in the United Kingdom.

The contrast between open mountain terrain, woodland and river systems gives the park a distinctive character, while its scale and relative remoteness contribute to a strong sense of space. Seasonal change is particularly evident across the landscape, from snow-covered summits and frozen lochs in winter to heather moorland, forests and rivers during the warmer months.
