Water cascades from the limestone escarpment of Hardraw Force into the shaded gorge below, where moss-covered rocks frame one of the Yorkshire Dales’ most iconic waterfalls.
Hidden behind the village of Hardraw, the waterfall is created by Hardraw Beck as it descends over the Great Scar Limestone. The surrounding woodland and sheltered valley provide a cool, damp environment that supports a rich variety of mosses, ferns and lichens.
