Krujë Castle

Krujë Castle

Early morning at Krujë Castle within the historic hilltop fortress of Krujë in Albania. Captured from within the castle grounds using a stitched series of iPhone shots, the scene shows the stone walls and structures of the complex illuminated by warm floodlights against the fading night. The quiet atmosphere highlights the fortress before the arrival of visitors, with the historic architecture of the site standing in stark relief against the pre-dawn sky.

At the heart of the complex is the Skanderbeg Museum, dedicated to the national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg. The museum was opened in 1982 and designed as a symbolic reconstruction of a medieval Albanian fortress, built to reflect the period it commemorates. It was later restored and updated after the political transition of the 1990s, and today it remains one of Albania’s most important cultural and historical institutions.
