Banff National Park

Banff National Park encompasses a landscape of mountain ranges, glacial lakes, conifer forests and broad river valleys within the Canadian Rockies. Snow-covered peaks, exposed rock faces and turquoise lakes are recurring features throughout the park, reflecting the influence of glaciers on the landscape.

Seasonal changes bring marked variations in colour, weather and snow cover, while elevations ranging from valley floors to alpine environments create a diverse range of landscapes. The relationship between mountains, water and forest defines much of the park’s character.
